Byliny — Ilya Muromets and Nightingale the Robber

One hero rides out of Murom at dawn on the straight road no living man has crossed — because in a damp oak by the river Smorodina sits a robber whose whistle lays the dark forests flat, and leaves every traveller dead. Ilya Muromets and Nightingale the Robber (Илья Муромец и Соловей-разбойник) — a bylina of old Rus', recorded from the storyteller Trofim Ryabinin in 1871, in a new English translation made for this show, read aloud over a gentle instrumental bed. Byliny. Intermission: "Damp Pine Sunrise" — instrumental. KacheliTV — Russian classics, read aloud. 🎧 Podcast: https://rss.com/podcasts/kachelitv/ 📚 The Byliny shelf: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSqHy5yC0a5w
