Lysenko/Zientarski (arr.): Ой Учора Орав (Oh, yesterday)

Phillip Sear plays a short piano solo arrangement by the Polish composer Wiktor Zientarski (1854 -?) of a Ukrainian folk-song collected, and arranged for voice and piano by Mykola Lysenko (1842-1912). The eminent Ukrainian composer Mikola Lysenko needs little introduction from me, as he has been widely recorded and well represented on YouTube. You can read about him here: t.ly/d3t9 . Lysenko made over 500 arrangements of Ukrainian folk-songs, and Zientarski made solo piano arrangements of 50 of them. Not much information is to be had on Zientarski (whose father, Romuald was a better-known composer), but he studied in Warsaw with his father, and later with Moniuszko. Here is a very rough Google translation of the text for the song (from t.ly/oaZr) - any amendments welcome!: "Oh, I ploughed yesterday and ploughed today. Oh, who, my dear, drove your will? My girlfriend drove me, Black, black-bearded, My tick. Oh, I mowed yesterday and mowed today. Oh, who brought you dinner, my dear? My girlfriend brought it to me, Black, black-bearded, My tick.."
