🔨 Nomadic Life; Building a Stone Garden Wall and Sheep Watering Hole In this video, you will accompany Jahangir and his son-in-law Ali in the heart of the mountains. They have decided to build a stone wall for the entrance to their nomadic garden; a work that is both a sign of local skill and knowledge and a reconnection with nature and the stones of the same land. This wall is not just a fence; it is a boundary that protects the garden from excessive traffic, prevents soil erosion, and gives the garden an identity and order. In nomadic life, the construction of such structures is always done by considering the direction of the wind, the slope of the land, and the path of the water; knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation. Jahangir and Ali carefully select the stones from among the stones of the same area; stones of different sizes, each of which finds a specific place in the wall. First, they prepare the ground and mark the path of the wall, then they lay larger stones as the foundation in the first row and place smaller stones in the higher rows. In between the stones, sharp and broken stones are used to fill the gaps to make the wall solid and strong. This dry stone-laying method, without mortar and relying on the weight and correct arrangement of the stones, creates a stable structure that will last for years against wind, rain and frost. The collaboration of these two people while working creates warm and intimate moments that flow in the heart of the mountain; from exchanging stones to guiding each other to choose the right place for each stone. After the wall is finished, they do not waste the cement that was left over from previous work and use it to make a water trough for the sheep. First, the water trough mold is prepared with stone and soil, and then cement is mixed with water and sand in the right proportions to obtain a uniform mortar. This mortar is poured into the mold and smoothed with hands and a trowel to create a smooth, leak-free surface. After drying, the water trough is ready for use; a simple but very practical structure that provides fresh and accessible water for the herd on hot and cold days, and is a sign of the intelligent management of resources in nomadic life; where nothing is thrown away in vain and every leftover finds a new use. This clip is full of very beautiful and happy moments that lie in the heart of each frame; from the precision and skill in arranging the stones and the intelligent selection of each piece, to the sincere cooperation of Jahangir and Ali and their laughter while working, and from preparing the mortar and making the water trough to the moment when the sheep gather for the first time at the new water trough. Many of these beautiful moments can only be discovered and enjoyed by watching the clip carefully and completely, and are not visible at first glance; details such as the way the stones are placed, the sound of stones hitting each other, and the peace that prevails in the space after the work is finished. So watch this clip until the end and let its hidden beauties surprise you and create moments full of peace and pleasure for you.
