КИНО — Чёрный альбом · KINO — The Black Album
Band: KINO Recorded: 1990 · Remastered: 2021 Full information below Чёрный альбом (The Black Album) is the seventh and final studio album by Kino. By the late 1980s the boundary between the official and underground music scenes had finally dissolved amid the political changes sweeping the USSR, giving former underground musicians the chance to make a living from their work. The band planned to record a new album in the fall and, the following year, to play concerts in Japan and South Korea—Amuse Inc. had already made them a substantial offer. Pink Floyd had also proposed a joint performance. None of it came to pass. On August 15, 1990, Viktor Tsoi was killed in a car accident while on vacation. He was only 28. News of his death shocked the country and led to a number of suicides among fans. Yuri Kasparyan, Igor Tikhomirov, and Georgy Guryanov found the strength to finish the album before going their separate ways. It was released without an official title; fans simply named it after its black cover. Though the band dissolved, Kino remains the most influential rock group in Russian history, and the phrase “Tsoi lives” still resonates across the post-Soviet world with undiminished force.
