Flowering Santan (Ixora Coccinea) bonsais started as a craze among Pinoy bonsai aficionados in the early 2000 with the entry in a bonsai show organized by the Philippine Bonsai Society, Inc. (PBSI) of a flowering plant of the same specie. The plant was owned by the then president of PBSI and was imported from Taiwan. This flowering Santan bonsai is perhaps the first and only Santan bonsai that has so far been featured on Philippine stamps. And it is our distinctive honor to have cultivated and care for it.
